Focused on bringing a nimble and creative approach, Sam brings to the SCS team a diverse set expertise in finance, strategic marketing, operations, and management developed while serving in various capacities for both start-ups and large corporations.  Of the utmost integrity, Sam generates innovative ideas to supply companies with the tools needed to achieve success. Sam’s background in both project development and project evaluation provides a unique perspective that comes with understanding the needs and challenges of both the developer and the financier.

Before joining the renewable energy industry, Sam began his career in the biotech and pharmaceutical sector after earning his B.S. from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Sam quickly moved up through the industry working for the largest international clinical services organization, as well as a small biotech start-up before joining Pfizer in his last stop before heading to business school.  During his time in the industry, Sam spent his time in strategic development and managed multi-million dollar projects in the clinical development sector.

Sam made the transition to the clean energy sector while attending the McCombs School of Business, receiving an MBA with a focus on energy finance and entrepreneurship.  During that time, Sam worked at the Clean Energy Incubator at The University of Texas at Austin, where he focused on the facilitation of start-up portfolio companies via financial analysis, market validation, and strategic planning.

After finishing business school, Sam joined Venti Energy with whom he still currently partners and acts as their Vice President of Development.  Sam’s role at Venti is focused on strategy and business development opportunities, in addition to overseeing the project development process and Venti’s strategic partner relationships.

Sam’s know-how in the development and financing of projects in the renewable energy industry brings the level of expertise needed to successfully get projects to the finish-line in today’s complex world of competitive development.  Likewise, Sam’s experience in providing due diligence and valuation for financiers provides the perfect complement to his development expertise and allows him to understand what it takes to get projects financed.
