With a keen ability to develop strategic relationships and an expertise in finance, business analysis, and marketing, Tom Vogt is an invaluable asset to the SCS team. Tom’s diverse background in investment banking, semiconductors, and solar photovoltaics allows him to envision and facilitate all aspects of clients’ project goals.
After earning his B.S. in Integrated Strategic Communications from the University of Kentucky, Tom began his career at Merrill Lynch as a Business Analyst in the Global Foreign Exchange Finance unit and quickly rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Vice President in Investment Banking Finance. During his tenure with Merrill Lynch, Tom managed revenues and expenses in excess of $50M and significantly enhanced efficiency by automating the monthly expense report process. Most critically, Tom successfully got 20+ business managers on board and directed implementation of a full risk analysis of the investment banking organization that resulted in a $3M cost savings.
Capitalizing on the expertise gained at Merrill Lynch, Tom went on to enter the semiconductor industry when he accepted an opportunity in Product Launch Marketing with the Microcontroller Solutions Group (MSG) of Freescale Semiconductor. At Freescale, Tom successfully spearheaded implementation of MSG’s first comprehensive analysis of sales and marketing strategy in order to establish best practices that generated the greatest return on investment.
Having developed a penchant for semiconductor sales and marketing, Tom subsequently secured an opportunity as a Business Development Analyst with HelioVolt, designing marketing strategies to penetrate emerging markets for thin-film solar cell products in the building-integrated photovoltaic segment. Tom leveraged his finance background to analyze solar financial models to determine where clients’ projects would be most economically feasible and lucrative. Furthermore, during his time with HelioVolt Tom earned an MBA from the University of Texas-Austin.
